If the internet went down, or the world was ending, but I had a stash of my favorite downloaded podcasts, I might still be ok. You can listen while cooking (unless your kids interrupt every 5 seconds), listen while running or walking, and I've even been known to stream one while taking a shower. (This is a step up from when I was a teenager and used to READ in the shower....no, it's not impossible but it does waste a lot of water!)
So, as a busy mom, podcasts have definitely improved the ways in which I can multitask. I have an unsatiated hunger for knowledge, specifically relating to health, and so I follow a long list of podcasters. It is utterly amazing how much free knowledge is thrown out there in the podcast world. I feel like it is one of the most untapped resources for moms or anyone! My kids definitely roll their eyes on occasion when I pick them up from school and I'm rocking out to the health benefits of coconut oil or how to hit the brakes on aging with diet and lifestyle. But perhaps they will thank me later? yeah right (BTW - there are also amazing podcasts for kids!)
I could go on about my love affair with podcasts, but let's not. Here are my 5 most favorite health and wellness podcasts to help you on your journey to finding your best self ever. These are the ones that I stream or download the most frequently and that I find the most interesting, unique or helpful. If you don't have time to read an entire book on a particular health topic in one sitting (who has time for that??) I bet you DO have time to listen to a 15-30 minute podcast!
If you have been reading my website a bit, then you will already know my firm belief that in order to realize true whole wellness, you have to address the body, mind, and spirit. I didn't understand that for a long time and only paid attention to the first; the body. Oprah's SuperSoul Conversations really dives into the mind and spirit and these podcasts help me get a new perspective on what I truly stand for, desire and want in my life. She has an uncanny way of tying the aspects of mind, body, and spirit together and the people she interviews each add amazing insights. This podcast is definitely worth a trial.
Here you will get an ultimate smorgasbord of interesting interviews and knowledge. Jesse and Marni touch on just about everything related to whole body wellness and I love their Canadian accents! For many of the topics they cover, it's a great introduction and you can look up more information if you find the topic interesting or relating to you. They cover everything from Diet to Fitness, Natural Living, Personal Growth and more. If you have been wondering what current health topics you might want to explore further, check out this podcast.
Minnesota is near and dear to my heart, being where I grew up, but it doesn't often carry a reputation of being a health mecca. However, the Dishing Up Nutrition Podcast is put on by a group of nutritionists and healthcare practitioners in the Twin Cities who cover a broad list of health-related topics in a holistic way. They are easy to listen to (gotta love some Minnesotan accents!), they have a great way of making the information relatable to your life, and they interview some pretty amazing people. I just really love how REAL they are. Definitely a group of women I would invite to sit down to lunch with and have an interesting chat.
If you couldn't tell from the name, the MBG podcast also aligns with addressing the whole person; mind, body, green (I think 'green' pertains to your environment). This podcast also makes my list because of the wealth of information it brings to the table...er, headphones? Just peruse the available list of episodes and I guarantee you will find something you want to listen to. Seriously, there is something for everyone here, whether you are just starting out on your health journey or have been learning and exploring for a while.
I really struggled with limiting this list to 5 because I love SO MANY podcast shows, but I included this last one because I feel like Tony is such a charismatic speaker, even on a podcast. He really speaks to mindset for me, he forces me to constantly reassess the WHY in my life. Also, he's amazingly successful and research has proven that by surrounding yourself with successful people you are more likely to reach higher, go further and challenge yourself in ways you wouldn't otherwise. And by surround myself, I am talking about my headphones again (gotta start somewhere!) If you find yourself in any type of mental or emotional rut, check out his list of podcast episodes. You won't be in a rut for long.
You can find all of these health and wellness podcasts in Apple iTunes if you want to keep them all together and easily accessible.
I would love to know what your favorite health and wellness podcasts are. Let me know in the comments below. Maybe we can all find some new ones to listen to.
Happy listening!

I am so much more conscious of what I am putting into my body and I actually feel really empowered and good about myself by saying no to the foods that are not good for me. At Dinner the other night, my husband and kids kept asking me to try one french fry or one bite of their dessert, and I just smiled and said 'no thank you'.
With 20+ post partum pounds, I was looking for a program to help me. I was blown away working with Leah. I lost 9 pounds, felt less tired and formed healthy habits that are now j7st part of my new normal.
My whole adult life I have struggled with eating healthy, never really feeling satisfied and giving in to very unhealthy choices. Leah is a phenomenal wealth of knowledge and support when it comes to nutrition. It is because of her programs that I am FINALLY eating healthy on a regular basis! I feel the best I’ve ever felt, I have more energy, better sleep, less inflammation, better skin, and a better mood! Not to mention, I lost 11 pounds and the weight is continuing to come off!
