Why I Think This is the Best Kids Lunch Box
I've packed over 1,000 lunch boxes in the past 4 years, I have a healthy following on Instagram where I pretty much only post pics of kids' lunch boxes, and when people need answers to lunchbox questions - they come to me. I'm just going to go ahead and say it 'out loud'...I'm kind of a freak about everything lunchboxes!
Ultimately, I just want my kids to eat healthily. I've found that in order for that to happen, there needs to be some strategy involved. You need a little bit of presentation, ease of access to the food, and some balanced nutrition. Also, it's a necessity in my opinion that the lunch box is durable, eco-friendly, and easy to care for.
This is why we think that PlanetBox is the best kids lunch box out there. It checks all the boxes and it makes your life SO. MUCH. EASIER!

PlanetBox lunch box features
Eco-Friendly
PlanetBox lunches create a whole lot less trash, which should help you sleep better knowing you’re doing your part to help the planet for future generations.
Durable
This is not a yearly type of purchase. We have been using our first PlanetBox Rover for over 4 years now. The high-quality stainless steel is warrantied for 5 years and has been known to survive getting thrown off the highest part of the playground structure (not that I recommend trying that out!)
Non-Toxic
PlanetBox stainless steel lunch boxes are non-toxic, non-leaching, safe from BPA, phthalates, and lead. In fact, that's one of the reasons the founders invented it - they wanted something safe for their kids too.
Easy to Clean
Dishwasher safe? For sure. Hummus left for a week? No problem – our stainless steel doesn’t retain yucky food odors or stains like plastic containers do.
Built-in "Balanced Plate"
One of the things I love about the PlanetBox Rover is that with 4 main compartments (and a 5th small one) you can let it guide you with balanced choices. One compartment for fruit, one for veggies, one for complex carbs and one for protein/healthy fats!
Customizable
With so many options to "decorate" with magnets, your kids will also think that this is the best lunch box! Because it is so durable, you won't need to buy a new lunchbox each year, but your kids can still choose new magnets each year! New year, new style. You can even upload your own images!

Easy for small hands
An often overlooked feature, but the ease of opening a lunchbox is a real struggle for small hands! Many parents aren't even clued into how hard some lunchboxes are to open for young children. The food comes home untouched and they jump to every other conclusion when often it's just that the kid couldn't open the darn lunch box! PlanetBox is super easy to open for any age.
Is it worth the price?
In one word: yes.
The price for the PlanetBox Rover (which is the recommended size for most school-aged children) at the time of this posting is $55.95 (plus tax).
We are on our 5th year of use for our Rover lunch box. So that means the lunchbox has cost us an average of $11.19/year.
Most people spend at least that much each year on plastic lunchboxes that leech chemicals and typically only last one year! (Throwing these out each year is not eco-friendly in the least.)
Are there any cons?
Okay, truth be told, there is one thing I wish I could do with this lunchbox...pack hot food. Although I have a Thermos Funtainer for the very few times my kids want something hot, I do think it would be awesome to have that feature in a PlanetBox lunch box.
I really don't find that my kids like hot food that often though, so I still vote the Planetbox lunchboxes as the best lunch box for kids!
Where should I buy one?
I think the best options are to buy through PlanetBox directly or from Amazon (which are orders that they fulfill). However, I've often seen discounts when purchasing directly from the PlanetBox website but never seen discounts on Amazon!
