Have you thought about using essential oils but don't know how or where to start? It can be overwhelming when you first get inspired or interested in essential oils. What oils to use? How do I use them? Where do I use them?
Let me show you one of my favorite ways to use essential oils - with a roller bottle. You want easy? This is it! You don't need many materials and it's so simple even my kids can make them.

First of all, what is a roller bottle?
A roller bottle is a glass bottle (usually clear, amber or blue tinted) with a little top that contains a ball in it (either made of plastic or stainless steel) that rolls around freely and helps to roll the oils onto your skin.
They come in all sizes but the most common sizes are 5mL or 10mL.

How do you use a roller bottle?
The reason these types of bottles are so popular is that they are so easy to use! You simply take the cap off, tip the bottle upside down or at an angle and rub on the part of your body where you want the essential oil benefits.
My 5-year-old loves using his doTERRA kids essential oil recipes in roller bottles.
You can keep the roller bottles in your purse, first aid kit, next to your bed, or just about anywhere you will have easy access to use your essential oil recipe blend when needed.
I tend to carry around my Energy & Focus blend and my personal "perfume" blend. Sometimes I send certain blends in my kids' backpacks if they need a little extra support at school for anxious feelings, calming, or focus. We always travel with roller bottles filled with essential oil recipes for various travel needs.
Make your DIY essential oil recipes - in a roller bottle
Step 1: Gather all the materials
I usually buy my roller bottles on Amazon. Most people buy 10mL sizes, but 5mL sizes are nice for travel and in the purse. If you are not sure what size you will prefer, just start with a small quantity of one size and see how it goes. You can reuse them but make sure you get a little tool to pop off the removable roller part so you can wash and refill them.
This is what you will need to make a roller bottle:
Roller bottles - 5mL or 10mL (if you will be leaving your roller bottles exposed to sunlight, get the amber or cobalt tinted kind to protect your essential oils)
Carrier oil - I love using fractionated coconut oil (FCO)
Essential Oils - I only use doTERRA because of their highest quality CPTG testing
Essential Oil Key Tool (optional - but great to have so you can easily remove the top and wash and refill)
Step 2: Choose a recipe
You can use almost any blend that you desire or simply use one essential oil. It's completely up to you and what situations or ailments you are hoping to target.
Here are my favorite everyday combos (for 10mL bottles):
Step 3: Put it all together
Add the essential oil drops (following your chosen recipe) to your roller bottle.
Fill the remainder of the bottle with a carrier oil - I use fractionated coconut oil (FCO) - but don't fill the bottle all the way to the very top, leave some space for the roller top.
Push the roller top into the bottle - make sure it's on all the way.
Add your cap.
Mix the oils together by gently shaking the bottle and you are done!

Where do I apply the oils?
You can roll the roller bottle of your essential oil blend pretty much anywhere but definitely avoid the eyes! Try to apply the oils to the part of the body that you are wanting to address.
