DIY Make-up brush cleaner
Save your face from skin irritations and breakouts by cleaning your makeup brushes at least once a week.
Are your makeup brushes in need of some deep cleaning? This makeup brush cleanser is super easy and only requires three simple ingredients.
Ingredients
2 tablespoons doTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil
5 drops Melaleuca oil
5 drops Grapefruit oil
Instructions
Add Fractionated Coconut Oil and essential oils into a small bowl.
Swirl your makeup brush in the Fractionated Coconut Oil for 30 seconds, or until you see the makeup stored in your brush start to come out.
Rub in a circular motion on the palm of the hand to help get the makeup out.
Rinse the brush under warm water. Gently squeeze brush bristles until clean, and the water runs clear. Note: Make sure to point the bristles down when running underwater. Direct water contact may loosen the glue where the bristles are attached and shorten the life of your brushes.
Let your newly cleaned makeup brushes dry on a towel for four hours, or until dry. Repeat once a month, or as needed.

5 Cleaning tips with Lemon
If you’ve been feeling the itch to get some deep cleaning done, you may notice some areas of your home have been neglected for far too long.
Luckily, doTERRA Lemon oil can help make cleaning those long-forgotten nooks and crannies easier. Here are 5 ways you can use Lemon to clean your home.
Microwave—Microwaves are notorious for being tough to clean, especially after mishaps involving spaghetti sauce or tomato soup. To ease the pain of cleaning, simply microwave a cup filled with water and a few drops of Lemon, then wipe clean!
Dishwasher—Pour distilled vinegar into a dish and add 5–10 drops of Lemon oil. Place this dish in your empty dishwasher and run on high.
Stove Top—Lemon oil makes cleaning one of the dirtiest areas of the kitchen easy. Add vinegar and Lemon to a spray bottle, and watch the grime disappear!
Washing Machine—Run a mixture of Lemon oil, baking soda, vinegar, and water through your empty machine on the hottest setting to break up dirt build-up and mildew. Scrub any excess with a sponge, then run the machine again with fresh water.
Garbage disposal—If you’ve been smelling something funky coming from your sink, it might be time to clean the garbage disposal. This DIY for Lemon disposal refreshers should help!
Reusable Dust Wipes
The amount of dust that accumulates around your home is sometimes a mystery. Vacuuming your carpets and changing your sheets on a weekly basis can help cut down on those dust bunnies, but what about your hard surfaces?
Dust wipes (as compared to feather dusters that simply move the dust from one place to another) are a significant help because they trap the dust in the cloth. There are disposable versions available in supermarkets, however, making reusable ones is simple and environmentally friendly.
Our version of dust wipes uses Lemon oil, making them particularly helpful for purifying surfaces, polishing wood furniture, and also for removing thicker dust or dust that may be slightly greasy from cooking.
Ingredients
2 cups distilled water
25 drops Lemon oil
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon white vinegar
Instructions
Cut 3–5 flour cloth towels into fourths or quarters.
In a large bowl, combine all ingredients and add all cloths.
Soak in liquid mixture until there are no dry spots on the cloth.
Ring out each cloth until it is damp and no more moisture comes out.
Tightly roll up the cloths and store them together in an air-tight container.
If cloths happen to dry out before you use them, dampen with water before use.
Tip: To reuse simply wash used cloths and re-apply ingredients.
DIY Soft Scrub Cleanser
Cleaning the bathroom is not an experience people look forward to very often. Being stuck in a small, enclosed space with harsh chemicals not only makes it hard to breathe, but can also be hazardous to your health. The next time you clean your bathroom, why not try mixing up an effective cleaner with many ingredients you already have at home? It still might not be your favorite household chore, but you will at least have a clean bathroom and cleaning products that make the job a little easier to handle.
Ingredients
¾ rounded cup baking soda
¼ cup unscented liquid Castile soap
1 tablespoon water
1 tablespoon vinegar
5–10 drops Lemon oil
Instructions
In bowl, combine baking soda and castile soap.
Add water and stir.
Add vinegar and essential oil. The consistency should be a soft paste.
Store in airtight container.
Make in small batches and store in an airtight container. This is enough for 2-4 applications. This soft scrub is excellent for getting rid of soap scum, removing stains, and brightening your tub, tile, and toilet.
To use, just apply and let it sit for 5–10 minutes and then scrub. Once done scrubbing, take a wet cloth and wipe clean.
Note: this scrub is also great to use when cleaning your kitchen sink or refrigerator.
Well, there you have it, plenty of DIY projects to keep you busy this weekend!
And don't be surprised if you find yourself whistling while you work. The amazing aroma from cleaning with these essential oils will work magic on your home and your mood.
Cheers,
