All Natural DIY Tea Tree Oil Face Wash (great for acne)
As moms, I'm willing to bet that we have all either dealt with teenage acne ourselves, weird-hormonal outbreaks in our 20s (birth control pill??), or pregnancy-related hormonal acne (I didn't even know that acne could pop up on my back? Sorry - bad pun). By now, you may even have a tween or teenager dealing with it. That is right around the corner for me...

An Easy Solution for Acne
I use tea tree oil in my DIY face wash because it is renowned for its cleansing and rejuvenating effect on the skin. You can read about some pretty impressive purifying, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties found in recent research here. This is a great essential oil for skin prone to acne, redness, and irritation.
But I want to be clear here, making a DIY tea tree oil face wash isn't going to solve all your acne and skin problems. Diet, lifestyle (exercise and managing stress), and balancing hormones are also really, really important! Having a great face wash may not clear your acne 100% on its own, but it can do wonders to help!

You can also use this DIY tea tree oil face wash to prevent acne and blemishes as well. I think it was Ben Franklin that said, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."
DIY Tea Tree Oil Face Wash Recipe
Basic Recipe
1 cup distilled water
1/4 cup liquid Castille soap
20 drops Melaleuca (Tea Tree) essential oil
Combine ingredients directly to a glass pump bottle (a foaming bottle works best - we use this one), and use to cleanse your face morning and night, especially during periods of breakouts.
I have also applied one drop neat (undiluted) of Melaleuca (Tea Tree) essential oil directly to a pimple at night and it does wonders by morning.
The cost to make this face wash
This recipe makes about 10oz of face wash. I've calculated the total cost, using the exact products I recommended to be about $2.60. Of course, you have the one-time additional cost to get the foaming bottle, but you can reuse that indefinitely.
Sounds like you would be saving mega bucks over time AND your face will be looking quite fresh and pretty!
After you wash, tone
Tone your face with an equal mixture of apple cider vinegar (ACV) (best deal on Amazon) and distilled water. Add both to a glass spray bottle (like this one) and mist your face after cleansing. Some people like to skip the misting and apply to the face with a cotton ball after cleansing. Avoid the eye area.
Why use a toner?
Research shows that facial skin has a natural pH (level of acidity or alkalinity) of around 5-5.5. For reference, pure water is at a pH level of 7. When you wash your face with soap, which is alkaline (higher than a pH of 7), you can offset your skin's natural pH balance. Hence, the idea of toning.
Don't forget to moisturize as well!
Bye-bye acne! Hello beautiful skin!
P.S. I want everyone who suffers from acne and blemishes on their face or body to know what you are beautiful inside and out no matter what is going on with your face. But, I know that it can make you feel less beautiful, so I hope this face wash helps boost your self-confidence! #youaregorgeous #nomatterwhat
