Here is what I used for this recipe:

The Recipe

Healthy Chocolate Gummies Recipe

Lose the sugar, the artificial dyes, and artificial colors! Give your child (and yourself) a treat that you will totally want to devour but will also give your body super nutrients for strong bones, cartilage, hair, nails (and did I mention beautiful skin?)

  • 1 can full-fat coconut milk ((or 14.5oz of any milk))

  • 1/4 cup raw cacao

  • 3 Tbsp raw honey (or maple syrup)

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 3 Tbsp grass-fed gelatin

  1. Warm the coconut milk over medium heat. You want the mixture to be hot but not boiling. Add the cacao using a whisk to thoroughly mix.

  2. Add the honey and vanilla and stir well.

  3. Add the gelatin 1 Tbsp at a time whisking continuously to avoid clumping.

  4. Remove from heat. (Optional - add mixture to a Pyrex container with pouring spout for easier pouring.) Work quickly to pour mixture into a glass dish lined with parchment paper or into silicone candy or ice molds. (Don't take too long doing this step or the mixture will harden.)

  5. Chill in fridge for at least one hour.

  6. Remove from molds or if you used a glass baking dish, slice into 1 inch squares and remove with a spatula. Serve and enjoy.

  7. Store in the fridge.

Peppermint-Chocolate variation: substitute vanilla extract with 1 tsp peppermint extract or 2 drops peppermint essential oil*.

If your gummies are resisting the exit from the molds, try freezing them for 5 minutes, it will be much easier!

Recipe Notes

*Peppermint Essential Oil

*Use only pure, therapeutic grade essential oils. This is why I only cook with doTERRA essential oils. They are of the highest quality. Learn more about why I choose doTERRA here.

Can I use Collagen?

NO! Your gummies won't be gummies! The gelatin makes them have the correct "gummy" texture.

Milk Substitutes

You can substitute any milk here. Just use the same amount.

Getting them out of the molds

If you are having trouble getting them out of the molds - try putting them in the freezer for 5-10 minutes first. They will be a little more firm and easier to get out.

Where to keep them?

Store these in the fridge to help keep their shape and because there are no crappy preservatives in there!

Try more shapes!

You can use any silicone mold - why not play around with some new shapes? On our list to try next...lego minifigure shapes!

Here are some hearts for Valentine's Day.

You can start with simple ice cube trays (as long as they are silicone) or pour the mixture into a glass baking dish and cut the gummies into simple squares.

Are they really healthy?

Yes - you can have your gummies and eat them too. This is a dessert that you can feel good about indulging in. (Don't tell your kids how good it is for them!)

Personally, I love that I have yet another way to eat bone broth. Yes, did you know that? Gelatin is basically bone broth dried and powdered. Here are just some of the amazing benefits of bone broth:
