Homemade healthy ranch dip recipe
I'm picky about the ingredients in my food. Especially with condiments. Did you know that condiments are one of the sneaky places that sugar can be found? Why do we need sugar in our ranch dip? Uhhh, we don't! If I'm going to eat sugar, then let it be in ice cream or chocolate!! I'm not going to waste my sugar intake for the day from condiments. And that's why you are here, because you probably want a healthy version of ranch dip, right? Right-o, here you go!
Oh, and one more thing...a little secret between just us moms - this dip has secret powers. It can make your kids eat more veggies! Sometimes it even works on full grown adults. 😉
the recipe...
Healthy Homemade Ranch Dip
A healthy homemade alternative to the classic ranch dip.
1 cup Greek whole milk yogurt
1.5 Tbsp garlic powder
1.5 Tbsp onion powder
1/2 tsp lemon zest (use more if you like tart ranch dip)
1/2 tsp ground pepper
1 tsp sea salt, fine
2 Tbsp dill, chopped
2 Tbsp chives, chopped
2 Tbsp parsley, chopped
2 Tbsp whole milk
1-2 tsp lemon juice (optional - use only if you like your ranch dip on the tart side))
Mix all the ingredients together. Enjoy as a dip for raw veggies, grilled chicken strips, sweet potato fries or anything else you may want to dip!
Store in the refrigerator in a tight sealing glass container.
You AND your kids will love it!
Keep this recipe in the fridge and pull it out to dip anything! I think kids will eat twice as many veggies when they can dip them in something. And since all the ingredients in this recipe are healthy, you can serve it guilt-free. Don't forget, a great opportunity for serving dips (and vegetables) for your children is in lunches or as appetizers. You know...that awful hour before dinner is served when they are whining about being hungry and can't believe dinner will be '10 more minutes'. Just put a plate of veggies and this dip in front of them!
