DIY Bump & Bruise Spray with Essential Oils

November 13, 20244 min read

The weather is warmer, the sun is out, green grass and leaves are sprouting which means...kids are playing outside more too!

And I don't know about you, but considering the Shelter In Place orders for our county, we are going bananas being inside our home all the time. In fact, I am guiltiy of kicking my kids outside on several occasions each day, almost regularly on the hour!

Except, I have to still work and get things done indside so the kids are outdoors exploring, climbing, biking, adn...inevitable falling!

The last thing I want to do right now make any unecesary trips to drugstores or shopping centers. Thank goodness for my DIY First Aid recipes!

4 Reasons to have Essential Oils in your First Aid Kit

  1. They are super versatile! You can clean a cut, soothe the skin, and calm a child with a single oil. (An example here would be lavender.)

  2. They're affordable. You spend pennies on the dollar for what you'd pay for most over the counter medications.

  3. They have a long shelf life! Most oils have a shelf-life of years and years. This means you can have them on hand at all times.

  4. They're safe and natural. With essential oils, you can avoid negative side effects that synthetic medications can have.

Ingredients

I keep these essential oils on hand at all times. I use them for many different DIY First Aid remedies as well as like a million other ways in our home.

Frankincense

While possibly most known for it's beautifying properties and ability to rejuvenate skin and help reduce the appearance of imperfections when applied topically (ahem - I totally use this in my face creams daily!), Frankincsense is also very soothing to the skin as well!

This is also a great oil for daily use to support healthy cellular, immune, nervous, and digestive function when used internally.

Lavender

Lavender is largely touted as a calming herb and helpful sleep agent. But did you know that lavender is not only calming to the mind and emotions but also for the skin? When applied topically, lavender is incredibly soothing to the skin, which is why it is included in this recipe!

Due to Lavender’s versatile properties, it is considered the must-have oil to have on hand at all times.

Myrrh

Ancient records show that Myrrh was deemed so valuable that at times it was valued at its weight in gold. These days you can get it at a better price lol!

Myrrh has powerful cleansing properties, especially for the mouth and throat. It is also soothing to the skin when applied topically—promoting a smooth, youthful-looking complexion. Bye-bye ouchies!

Helichrysum

This stuff smells AMAZING! (And it has powerful uplifting and soothing aromatherapy properties.)

But Helichrysum is best known for its restorative properties to the skin. Also referred to as the Everlasting or Immortal Flower, Helichrysum is used in anti-aging products for its rejuvenating benefits to the skin helping to reduce the appearance of blemishes while also promoting a glowing, youthful complexion. (Yes, I use this one in my facial care routine as well!)

Between the 4 essential oil ingredients included here, this spray is full of super soothing, healing, and restorative properties! Kiss the owie tears goodbye after using this "magical" spray.
